Rare 1976 Formula 400 4speed!
Cameo White w/ Firethorn interior!
$8,000.00
HI, still trying to make some room, selling off a few unrestored rare high caliber cars. Up for sale is my 1976 Formula 400 4 speed. This real nice, rare big block stick comes with its PHS paperwork documenting the rare options and color combo. Factory Cameo White with Firethorn interior! Very few ever built with these colors, and the interior is almost mint. PHS services actually wrote down the rarity of the colors in the comments field on the first fax page which is always left blank, except for this one, (see pic). Factory tach dash, four speed console, factory Hurst shifter still in place, also an air condition equipped Formula, sub-frame connectors, posi, older RJS racing harnesses on both front buckets. Has a WY code 400, don't know if it's the original engine, needs to be redone, but still runs and drives and is a very easy drive while you restore. Car is sold with Bill of sale and might be able to get a registration to make transfer of ownership good for all 50 states. A rare 400/stick car.
BODY: as you can see in the pics, it needs a little tlc, very nice body, but as far as cars this old go, its not in bad shape at all. Needs a rear pass. quarter as the worst panel on it. The trunk is solid, better than most unrestored cars out there, doors and front fenders are also in nice solid shape, and ram air Formula hood is near perfect! When I replaced the door locks with new ones, the door panels had never been off! Floors are like brand new underneath the rear floor rug, still has the jute padding under the factory rug and from what I saw of the rear floors, they look perfect. The car was repainted in the late 80's so the Formula appearance package paint scheme was covered up with just solid white without repainting the Formula stripes and name along the bottom edges. Still has the original doors as the car still had tape covering the factory GM door sticker on it from the repaint long ago.
INTERIOR: as you can see in the pics, the factory Firethorn red interior is in amazingly well preserved condition! The door panels are like new, seats are still soft and supportive front and back, its as if the car sat garaged for a long time (don't know the past history), but it must have been parked for long periods of time to still have such a nice and complete interior that was never torn up. Someone set up this beauty back in the day with race type sub-frame connectors, RJS racing harnesses, extra performance gauges, etc! Vintage hot rod stuff! Steering wheel needs the horn button re-assembled, but other than that, excellent condition driver interior that is still original and not aftermarket! Shifter works perfect.
DRIVE TRAIN: As I stated in the beginning, this car has a WY code 400 engine, don't know if this is the orig. engine or not, it didn't matter that much to me since I already have the PHS paperwork to know what it was built as, but it does seem original. It has been parked for a while, the engine definitely need a tune up, runs rough, but the car does drive nice, shifts smooth in all gears and has plenty of power, I just wouldn't drive it around town until you go over all the fluids and a tune up for starters. I am sure it can be a daily driver with some general tlc. The stick runs out fine and has ZERO issues, and still has the factory Hurst shifter in place and feels tight going down the road.
This is a very rare and complete Formula big block stick! Other than a Super Duty car, this is the rarest of the bunch for 1976! Look at the PHS production numbers I pulled from the packet, below. Total production figures show the Formula as the lowest in production, then mated to the 400 4 speed and the rare Cameo White with Firethorn interior, makes this car a super collector caliber ride and probably the only one you will EVER see built like this at any car show!
This is just one of the few Muscle and collector cars I am selling off, need the space and looking for a new place to restore my rides, so some of these nice rides need to go! Please look at some of the cars in my list at the bottom in case you might have an interest?
Selling way below its stated values, (taken from NADA.com the 23rd of this month), but not giving it away, if you know what this car is and how rare it is, its definitely a nice grab for the person looking for a special car that will go up in value without even touching it!
